This Cormorant was fishing in the gulf waters off Tarpon Springs. Do you think he knows there's a piece of grass a'hanging out of his mouth? His reflection is all wavy and if he tried to look and check his mouth, the grass would go under the water. Did the other birds "honk" at him and laugh? Should I've told him?
This Ibis stands tall in the water and would be able to see his reflection. But it doesn't show his true colors or exactly how smooth and classy he is. But then he's got water dripping off his beak....
Here the cormorants and seagull look almost like mirror images of themselves. But in the water, they can't tell if their wet feathers make their butts look big.
"Finally brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things." Philippians 4:8
We are not what we think we are, but we are what we think. (That's not my quote, but can't remember where I heard it.)
Lord, help my thoughts be about what You mean to my life, so I reflect You. Show me what I really reflect to others. (gulp)

Great reflective photos, Karen. I felt so peaceful reading your post and contemplating the images.
Tarpon Springs is one place I want to visit. It sounds very unique.
Beautiful and thought-provoking images, Karen. I want to reflect Him.
We lived in the Tampa area for several years and traveled around the state. So much I miss.
I remember cormorants hanging out to dry.
Whenever we are out on our sailboat, I love watching all the birds. Beautiful photos, Karen.
Sandra mentioned the cormorants handing out to dry. In their drying pose they remind me of some sort of karate ninja character ready to attack. :0)
Oh, lovely, Karen. You are so creative.
That's a brave prayer at the end. I've done that, and it's always helpful to my growth, even if it's hard to bear.
Lovely reflective photos Karen. I specially liked the headland jutting into the water - Dave
Thanks Jeanie, the water was so calming.
Kathy, it's a small place, but lots of unique stuff. :)
Sandra, I love living in FL, love the water, too.
Leslie, that's a cute image the ninja cormorants!
Jeanette, yes, I didn't offer that prayer carelessly.
Dave, thanks-I like that one too. It was a bit foggy out that day.
What gorgeous shots and such serene reflections in the water!
OOOHHH scary. I think my husband is a Harley Davidson, and I must be a big old piece of chocolate and a book.
Come to think of it, my butt did look sort of big the other day...
Actually, not just sort of big...
Sigh. Total bummer.
Now attaching Phillipians 4:8 to my fridge!
Have a great week!
Kate, you are too funny! I love that!
