Whitey-Tidy

My kitchen cabinets. Totally 80's right? They are that laminate, which I know you "can't" paint. Okay, there ya go, you know I'm gonna try anyway.

Went to Home Depot and talked with a guy in the paint department and said that I knew that you couldn't paint laminate, but why? He answered, "Oh, you can. We have paint right over there."

Whoo, hoo. I rushed to see the colors, my mind swirling with ideas already. Found it. It came in bright white and bright white. So I picked the white.
Whew, kitchens are a job! Our first time painting cabinets. It took 3 coats. Please ignore my stuff all around-haven't rearranged yet.

I did say it was our first time right? Well, we had only one mistake. We fixed it before I thought to take a picture-but here it is.

My pantry cabinets-the top ones, we put on backwards. You should've seen me try to jump up to reach the handles. Ha, not a pretty sight. I wonder if I can keep these bright whites all tidy-white? But I do love the look.

"Wash me in your laundry and I'll come out clean, scrub me and I'll have a snow-white life." Psalms 51:7 (MS)

Oh Father, sometimes I feel like I need another white-wash, but it's only surface stuff. Once You've washed my soul for eternity, it's only my exterior that gets the smudges.

God's wash comes in bright white or bright white. :)

I know you're glad to have this job finished (though I sure wish I had been there when the doors were on upside down)! Love your post, Karen.

Looks beautiful - and really brightens up the room, I bet!

It sure does make a difference to change the colour of walls or cabinets like this. You did a great job of it. Personally, I'd have chosen the white but to each her own. ;)

I never knew you could do that either but it is totally something I would try :) But I am pretty sure I would want to do it while pregnant so I don't have to help with the painting because all those cupboards would be a lot of work :) That has been my trick :)

Kathy, I think I'm painted out for right now.:)

Jeanie, Johnnie, Laura, thanks ya'll. No Johnnie you wouldn't have liked that. All the moans and groans that came with it.

Thanks Linda. :)

Hilary, you know, I think you're right!

Tracy, yes it does. I love the lighter color.

Clella, thanks so much.

Libbie, I say go for it, now, while you have that chance! :)

Diane, thank you. Now just to "keep" them that white color. :P

Dave thank you so much.

Ooooh, I like it. If I have one complaint about my house it's that the kitchen always seems so dark. I think having white cabinetry brightens things up and reflects more light, especially in the daytime. We NEED light in the kitchen!

Kat, yes it did. Feels all spring-like.

Thanks Jeannette!

Stephanie, that was my complaint, too. If I can do it, anyone can!

Looks wonderful! I am contemplating painting my cupboards, actually, I really should say, I am trying to get up the energy to paint my cupboards. It just might not ever happen. Bummer, yours look so great!

Wishing you the most wonderful weekend!
