While at the zoo this year, we came across this guy. Whoa! Big and hairy and mean-looking. Boy, I'd hate to run into him in the jungle or anywhere for that matter.
I enlarged this second picture of him just to see his face better.
And look.
Check out his head. Ouch. Must've been a fight with the other orangutan. When I enlarge even more, I can see his eyes, too. Not so ferocious now.Made me think about others around us. Most of them have hurts we don't see because we don't/can't get close. And I know I never think about them hurting.
"God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7
Lord, give me eyes to see beyond the outward appearance. Make me sensitive to others.

Wow. We have the same chin. And yeah, you are right about the hurts.
He reminds me of a second cousin twice removed.
Good lesson but I thought the second photo caught him smiling. My first impression ( judgment?) was he was mean, with a second look, I think he looks cute and goofy. Made me smile
What a cute guy - with wild hair!
He kinda looks like he's smiling. You know, one of those no-teeth smiles. A little grin, maybe.
Look at that smile. He's adorable.. in a goofy sort of way. ;)
Great reminder. There are so many hurting around us.
I got to go on a gorilla mountain trek in Rwanda last year. It was incredible to see them close up in the wild.
I thought he was smiling in the second picture too. He looks quite friendly but I agree that I wouldn't want to get too close!
Best wishes and happy week,
Natasha.
Thanks all, he was a fun creature to look at. Hope his head is all well. Blessings all.****
What a fine looking fellow that orang-outang is Karen? As you say, a close-up picture of his face made it not so bad - Dave
