The Monsta Chair

Hubbie and I went shopping last weekend for a new chair for him. His favorite, a grey leather recliner, is umpteen years old. The fabric is worn off on the arms and cracking elsewhere. In fact, the duct tape to cover the bare spots keeps coming off! Ha, duct tape looks like leather, right? And it cures all things. :)

Anyway, at the store, hubbie feel in love with this most comfortable recliner. It's microfiber and it cushions your arms and touche like a marshmallow. Sold.

But then when it was delivered, I couldn't help but laugh. I called hubbie and said our "monsta chair" is here. It literally swallowed me and the room at the same time. It took up the spot where I had my love seat! I kid you not!

Okay, it's going back. I went to a sister store and found the same chair in a normal person size.

"For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness, and to goodness knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control." 2 Peter 1:5-6

Ah, self-control. These words were written by impulsive Peter, so I can relate well. Why didn't we measure the approximate space for the chair?

Do I give wisdom a chance to speak or lose my self-control? Ummmm, sometimes. How about you?

May the good Lord help me be wise.

Well said... self control while shopping? My weakness. I'm a work in progress.

Been there done that but I think the chair is in my living room. :-)
Self Control while shopping. Are you kidding? Love you

I find you quiet wise to put the words "self-control" and "shopping" in the same post!! Something I have be diligent about, for sure, as I have a closet full of impulse shopping rejects...ahem.

:)

Bigger is not always better.... A little self control goes a long way. :O)

Interesting how all us women are reacting to the words self control and shopping in the same post. that is funny. I was thinking though it was good you knew what you liked - the fabric and feel of the chair and what you didn't - the size - to know for sure what you wanted and needed. Good lesson in discernment I would say

Kathy, yep, it is!

Alisa, oh, me too!

Clella, LOL...I know!

Bina, oh, guilty here!

Diane, snicker...yes!

Jeanie, I know plenty of men the same way with "big boy" toys. :) Guess, God meant that for us all.

Nice big chair alright. From experience we too know that it pays to do measurements before buying furniture. Once had trouble getting a lounge suite into the lounge. Had to remove windows for access! - Dave

Self control is something I need to pray for much more often!

THanks for the sweet comments about the tooth jar too! You are always so encouraging!

Dave, oh wow, I'm glad we didn't have to do that!

Ron, okay, how did I imagine you would say something like that? lol...

Libbie, don't we all? Oh, you're just a sweetie pie. :)

Our new sofa is HUUUUUUUUUUGE. It engulfs the living room. But we practically live on the thing when we're home, so I guess it's more important to have comfort.

But my stepdad had a chair that he'd had for 25 years. It was totally falling apart. My mom made him get a new one and he's done nothing but complain since!

Hi, Stephanie! That's how we are on our sofa. Comfort is most important. BUT, I have to fit in all my stuff. :P Thanks for stopping by, you have a great blog.
