Riding with the Buzzards

My hubbie and I were in the middle of the Cleawater Ironman World Championship.  It consists of 1.2 mile-swim, 56-mile bike ride, and a 31.1-mile run. There were about 1,8000 racers!

Nooooo, we actually drove in our car along side one of the blocked lanes along the bike trail. Try as we might, there was no turning left until about 14 miles up the road. So "technically we were in the race, right? lol.....

This boulevard has tall road lights. On the top of several I noticed buzzards. Yes, they do frequent that area around the preserves there. I wondered if any of the bikers noticed that? Me, I'd be buzzard meat, if I even got that far.

I can hear the buzzards now, "Hey, where's the meat on those things? They're all bones and gristle."

BTW, the male winner won in 3:41:19, and the female in 4:06:28. Boggles my mind!

"But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one." 2 Thessalonians 3:3

In the spiritual race, do "buzzards" see a strong gristly racer, or am I soft and easy to take down?

Lord, in Your faithfulness stretch my spiritual muscles and make them strong.

Wow, love how you brought that together in the end, Karen! If I tried a triathalon? Buzzard meat. Spriritually, they had better back off, cuz I'm not going down with out a fight.

wow Karen you fooled me at first. I thought she does this? I didn't know that!!!

I never thought I would hope and pray to be all bones and gristly before - a new prayer for me! Hey Buzzards, look elsewhere!

Thanks Karen!

I think I'm pretty squishy right now. Thanks for the very visual reminder! :O)

I don't think I have ever even seen a buzzard in real life! I am sure there wasn't much meat around :) Me...a little too much meat :)

Hope you are having a nice lazy afternoon like I am....it beats that triathalon thing :)

I liked your photo here Karen. It must have been embarrassing not being able to get off the course? - Dave

Love that prayer thought at the end, Karen.

Alicia, ha, I just laughed when I saw the buzzards hovering. I know each racer passed them by. :)

Jeanie, oh my, you know I'd never do that! :P Yes, that's a new one for me, too.

Diane, I call myself, "fluffy." But hope not spiritually.

Libbie, you've never seen a live one? They are kind'a creepy. Now that's my kind of afternoon. :)

Dave, thanks. No, we weren't in the race lane, just along side in the car lanes. Did make us feel lazy, thought.

Laura, thanks, weird, isn't it?

I'd like to think I'm a slow and steady one in this spiritual life, and with the rest of my existence.

Thought-provoking post, Karen!

Excellent analogy, Karen.

Give me holy muscles, dear Jesus, so those buzzards fear me!

Janna, slow and steady will build muscles, too!

Jeanette, smiling....amen!

TWS, thank you, and thanks for dropping by.
