To Go Only

Hubby and I decided on "date" night, we'd splurge and go to this fancy restaurant. You can't make reservations, but you can call ahead. So we did.

Driving up we saw lots and lots of people waiting outside sitting all around, appetizers and drinks being served to help break up the wait. We wanted to go to the drugstore at the other end of the shopping center if we had time. One of us would have to go inside to check the time.

There was absolutely no parking near the entrance, so guess where we parked to check our wait time? Yep, at the "To Go Only" parking spot. There was another open one next to us, so no sweat, right?

Hubby came back quickly so we could find a parking place, and....our car wouldn't go in reverse!! Argh! Not only were we parked wrong, but now in front of all these people at this fancy restaurant, the car would not behave. (I think it's a teen aged car.) All the other gears worked, just not reverse.

Hubby, sheepishly got out, I slid to the drivers side and he pushed his car out of the forbidden parking slot. One man asked if he needed help, too. More embarrassment, but after a minute, I was laughing. Naturally I told him not to park there, right?

(BTW it's a BMW)

"First pride, then the crash--the bigger the ego, the harder the fall." Proverbs 16:18 (MS)

Lord, make sure all my gears work. I don't want to stall in the wrong place and be an embarrassment to You.

Pride is a big one for me. It's those subtle areas in our lives it sneaks up on the most. Hugs :O)

How embarrassing! I once drove a hire car that I couldn't get into reverse...

Hope you had a great meal though.

I just knew you were going to say they'd put a chain on your back tire because you were illegally parked, and you had to pay them a fortune to get it taken off! Whew. So glad it was only a case of a teenager car! LOL.

Hey, rich people have car problems too! They probably looked at you guys and fondly remembered when they were young and newly in love!

Hi Karen!

Back in town and found the spices in my mailbox. They smell WONDERFUL!! Can't wait to use them.

Thanks so much!

Lady Fi, yes our meal was very good. I've never had a car do that. :P

Dave, you are so right!

Jeanette, you made me laugh! That would've made for a better story, huh?

Oh, Stephanie you are a dear for calling us young! Will you be my BFF?

Teri, yay! I hope you really like them. Careful a bit with the cajun spice-it has a kick! :)
