Blessings and Work

In the sunset of life some things are not clearly seen or understood.

My Mom has ongoing memory problems. Both she and Dad eat frequently at our house. I try to prepare enough food to send some home with them. Sooo, I buy the inexpensive containers so they don't have to worry about returning them.

Dad holds a Sunday church service in their mobile home park, and many wonderful folk bring over food for them, too.

Anyway, the other night they came over and Mom brought a bagful of food containers that had my name on them. "Here, these are all yours," she said. I opened the bag and saw unfamiliar containers with a post-it notes written in Mom's handwriting.

"Mom, these are not mine."

"Yes, they are. See your name is on each one."

"But Mom, you wrote my name on them."

"See, I told you they were yours. If you don't want them, just do whatever you want with them."

Sometimes, it's hard, but this gave me the giggles. I removed the sticky notes with my name and gave them back to Dad after supper.

"In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said; 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'" Acts 20:35

Will I continue to send home extras in containers? Yep. Will the Lord notice when we serve others? Yep. Therein is the blessing. May I remember this verse in difficult times.

What Are We Doing?

While in Virginia, I did something for the first time. Can you guess from this picture?  Duh, huh?

My hubbie said, all this time he thought I was taking a picture of him, but I just wanted the half eaten apple. Ha, I thought it was funny. Yes, we went apple pickin'! The orchards are on Carter Mountain, the weather was beautiful, and the paths steep. I didn't know, well yes I did, how out of shape I was. My calves were barkin' at me!

These are the Pink Lady apples. We also picked Winsap and Fuji. The mountain, packed with people, apples and the beauty of the fall leaves made for a wonderful day.

My heart filled with joyfulness at the beauty of God's creation. How great and good is He.
"How great is Thy goodness which Thou hast stored up for those who fear Thee." Psalm 31:19 (NAS)
"What a stack of blessing you have piled up for those who worship you." (Message)

Money can't buy the blessings He gives and continues to pile up for His children.

Thank you, Father.

Are Your Quivers Full?

"Behold, children are a gift of the Lord; the fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one's youth. How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them." Psalms 127:3-5

Well, I don't have a quiver, but my house is full with my grandchildren this week for spring break. Oh, and they brought their mom and dad. I am blessed to have them and my daughter and son-in-love and my Mom and Dad, all here.

Forgive me my bloggie friends, if I don't visit as much this week. I'll be busy until Sunday, when they leave. BUT, I might...just maybe.....post other pictures for my Saturday post. teehee....

Ahh, the many gifts of the Lord.
