Gentle Chirps

Waiting on my dog to do his "thing" in the back yard, I saw little shadows flit over my head. I heard gentle little chirps. I knew the birds were there. But I couldn't see them. Major was focused on this tree.

I went and got my camera to zoom in and find what kind of bird was chirping. Why? Oh, just because, and doing this same chore gets boring.

Anyway, I just took a bunch of pics in the area where I thought they might be. After I uploaded the pictures, I enlarged them and found this one! Yay! I couldn't believe how well this little guy blended right in with the tree. No wonder I couldn't find him when he landed.

"Then he was told, 'Go, stand on the mountain at attention before God, God will pass by.' A hurricane wind ripped thought the mountains and shattered the rocks before God, but God wasn't to be found in the wind; after the wind, an earthquake, but God wasn't in the earthquake; and after the earthquake, fire, but God wasn't in the fire; and after the fire a gentle and quiet whisper.

When Elijah heard the quiet voice, he muffled his face with his great cloak; went to the mouth of the cave, and stood there. A quiet voice asked..." 1 Kings 19:11-13 (Message)

How many times do I wait for God in the great and wild things, when He probably wants to talk to my life in quiet, gentle ways. The little things.

Like Elijah, may I be responsive to the whisper of God and stand.

Sometimes I fear I am the great and wild thing when God wants me to be the whisper. Subtlety, thy name is not "Rachel."

I constantly get the sense of God when I'm in nature. I love the verse that says even the rocks and trees would cry out if we remained silent.

Love how He speaks to us.

Rachel, you are too cute, and I know He thinks so too.

Wendy, I love that verse, too.

Kathy, I'm not sure. I need to look it up. Maybe a yellow breasted ????

Thanks Diane, but my dog told me which tree. :P

Oooo, Jeanie, I like that, the "music of our days."

...and I love how you took the time and made the effort to seek out the source, Karen! Doesn't He assure us we will find Him if we diligently seek Him? Yay!!

Some of the most beautiful things are right in front of us, yet we somehow don't see them. That's what I see in that!

Karen, I don't always comment when I read your posts because sometimes I just assume you know how much I like them, but this is exceptional!!! Love you Clella
