Look Up!

Major, my dog, finally figured out that squirrels run up the tree, while the rabbits run under the fence. He keeps sentry from our glass slider and when a squirrel is spotted, his happy, antsy feet start and he comes and stares right in our faces.

Open the slider and he bolts out the door hoping to catch that squirrel. (Rabbits he has caught.) Major will stand there for the longest, oblivious to possible fire ant beds (which are numerous here and a constant battle) and heat until he can no longer see them, or they hide.

"Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth." Colossians 3:2 (NAV)
"Don't shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up and be alert to what is going on around Christ--that's where the action is. See things from his perspective." Colossians 3:2 (Message)

When my mind, and heart are down, dragging the floor, I don't get better by just sittin'. If I look to Him expecting something, then my draggy-dumps lift. Then, what's around me doesn't seem so bad.

Keep your eyes up, feet ready, and heart filled.

Benny is a squirrel chaser too but he just wants them out of the yard. He'll keep barking at them until they leave the edge of the property then he'll happily prance back all proud of himself. My neigbour's dog does the staring thing though. Major sure is a beauty!

Major is a real handsome boy! Do you show him?

I love how you turn your experiences into thoughtful study on relationship with God.

What a great picture for the verse!
Your dog is beautiful, too! My daughter is begging for one just like that, I can't let her see this! ;)

Oh, that Major -- he's such a teacher in a doggy package.

You're so right. Keep your eyes on Him. We have to look up!

That photo shows an absolutely beautiful Major. He's just gorgeous.

And you know Colossians 3:1-3 is my all time favorite Scripture passage. Enjoyed the different versions.

Hilary, thanks. Major doesn't hardly ever bark, but he likes to sneak up super slow and surprise them.

Jeanie, thanks bunches!

Parsley, thank you too. No, I don't show him. He's neutered, and loves other dogs too much to behave and strut. I've tried classes. I would one day, like to pass the class to take him into hospitals, especially the VAs.

Alicia,...smile, I understand your daughter. I was the one always begging for a dog, too. :)

Diane, I'm glad these verses helped. Blessings**

Laura, yes, he is a doggy-package. :)

Johnnie, thanks so much. I liked the different versions of that verse, too.
